Labels

Printing bib numbers, hip number stickers, and athlete or team packet labels from the meet’s data, on sheets or a thermal printer, and saving label layouts to reuse.

Open the Labels page

Open Labels in the meet navigation, or press Print bib and packet labels… on Reports. At the Basic level, Labels isn’t in the sidebar; use the Reports button.

The page lists everything you can print: the built-in labels and any templates you’ve saved. Filter by Source (All, Canned, Custom, or Favorites) and by family, or search by name. Star a label to keep it in your favorites, and open one to go to its workspace.

The built-in labels

Label What it prints
Athlete Packet Labels One label per athlete with bib, team, and optional entry detail, for packets and pickup.
Bib Numbers One large bib number per athlete, with optional timing-company branding and the athlete’s name.
Hip Numbers One hip number sticker per seeded athlete or relay in a track event, using the meet’s hip number setting.
Heat/Start Position Hip Labels One sticker per heat and start position, with the number only: no athlete, team, or bib.
Team Packet Labels One label per team with a roster summary, athlete count, and bib range, for team envelopes.
  1. Seed the track events first: Hip Numbers prints only seeded athletes, each with a heat and a lane or position.
  2. Open Labels and open Hip Numbers.
  3. Under Events, choose All Events, Laned Events, Track Events, or Custom Events.
  4. Pick the stock, check the preview, and press Print.

Each sticker shows the number from the meet’s Hip numbers setting: the athlete’s stored hip number, or their lane or start position. See Hip Numbering.

To print stickers before seeding, use Heat/Start Position Hip Labels: it prints the numbers for each heat’s lanes or positions, with no names, so they can be handed out at check-in.

Hip number stickers came out blank or missing

  • Missing stickers: the round isn’t seeded. Hip Numbers only prints athletes with a heat and a lane or position, so seed or reseed the round and print again.
  • No stickers for an event: only each event’s current round prints, and a round whose results are complete is left out.
  • Stickers with no name: that’s Heat/Start Position Hip Labels, which print numbers only. Use Hip Numbers for named stickers.
  • Wrong numbers: the Hip numbers setting changed after seeding. Reseed the round, then print again.

The label workspace: stock, layout, and what prints

Opening a label gives a workspace with a live preview:

  • Label stock: page sheets such as 2 x 4 Packet Sheet and Avery 5160 Compact, and thermal sizes such as Thermal 4 x 6, Thermal 4 x 3, Thermal 2.25 x 4, and Thermal 2.25 x 1.25.
  • Copies per label, and Show label boundaries to check alignment.
  • Team filter, Sort, and Order (↑ or ↓) for which records print, in what order.
  • Only records with entries, which is on to start, so athletes not entered in any event are left out.
  • Geometry: Orientation (Auto turns long numbers sideways to fit), Fill order, Label width, Label height, and the gaps, editable when your stock is slightly different.
  • Branding, and Paper and margins.

Print sends the layout to your printer.

To print in reverse, for example so stickers come off a thermal roll in the right order, set Order to ↓ beside Sort. Heat/Start Position Hip Labels have no Order control.

Save a label layout as a template

When a layout is worth reusing:

  • Save Template… stores a new custom template;
  • Save As… stores a copy under a new name;
  • Save Changes… updates the template you opened.

Saved templates appear in the list with the built-in labels, and can be starred, filtered, opened, and deleted.

  1. Finish assigning bibs before printing anything with bib numbers (see Athletes and Entries).
  2. Seed rounds before printing Hip Numbers.
  3. Open the label you need and pick the stock that matches your media.
  4. Print one page and check it against the real sheet before printing the whole run.
  5. Adjust the geometry if needed, then save it as a template.

Labels: common problems

  • Labels print off-register: the stock’s geometry doesn’t match the sheet. Adjust it in the workspace and save a template.
  • An athlete is missing: they have no bib, or they aren’t entered in any event and Only records with entries is on.
  • A team label shows the wrong bib range: athletes carry inconsistent team codes. Fix them on Athletes.

Labels: checklist

  • Bib numbers are final before bib labels print.
  • Hip number stickers were printed after seeding.
  • One test page was checked against the real stock.
  • Layouts you reuse are saved as templates.
